Testing The Hypothesis, Part 1
The opportunity that I have chosen to pursue is not one that I have previously discussed in this blog, instead it is an opportunity that I have recently stumbled upon and figured it was worth further investigation. This opportunity is based on the huge influx in new construction that is taking place currently. This influx creates a need for more site development crews, these are the people who are the first ones on a new construction site before ground is ever broke and they are the ones who clear the land and prepare it for the construction. The people that are in need are the new owners of the land that are planning to develop the land into new neighborhoods, industrial areas, office space, whatever it is that it will become. There are not enough site development crews to keep up with the demand.
I interviewed people that I know in the site development industry, as well as property owners and neighborhood developers to get a better idea of the logistics of this opportunity. From my interviews I was able to determine that the "who" that I identified to have this need is actually a much larger group than I could have imagined. The "who" that I identified encapsulated all with the need but the number of those that had the need was much higher than I imagined. While talking with one property owner I found that he had a sight developer already signed to complete the project so this shows that there are crews currently having work but after interviewing another property owner I found that they were desperately struggling to find crews and that if I had a crew that could work tomorrow he would have work for me. This shows just how big the need is for these crews. During my interviews it was determined that the need was in fact caused by the construction boom and lack of crews currently working. After having conducted these interviews I determined that the need for these site development crews is much higher than I could've imagined.

Andrew,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! This is a topic I don’t know much about, so I found your post to be very interesting and informative. I can tell you put a lot of effort into identifying this opportunity, and I think you’re on a great path as it seems there is definite need here. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
